Hi Alex. I have my book plotted, always understanding things can change. I've got two polished chapters and a couple in progress. ChatGPT has been a godsend for me in terms of research and getting my ideas sorted out quickly. I still love my human critiquers, but this way I get off my hamster wheel quickly. I have hopes of actually writing it in a year!

It looks like my biggest problem with this book is the number of narrators I need to cover all the aspects of the story, but I think just naming them at the start of the chapter will suffice. At the moment I'm stuck since this particular chapter has two possible narrators of equal value - well not stuck, I've started with the one who has the most conflict going into the scene, but I lose being able to look at him and his world with more attention from the other POV. I may need to write both versions to see if there's a better one.

You sound like Craig - for his last two books he's written in first person, then rewritten it all in third person - and now in this latest one he's going BACK to first person! But sometimes you have to write from the other POV or person to find out everything you need to know about a book. It sound like a horrifying amount of work but it's really not -often just part of the process. You're experienced enough to know!

I've accepted I picked the right narrator, and my brain sweetly supplied me with several one liners this morning that condense what could be paragraphs. Yay.

I just finished a chapter and realized I may need to rewrite it in first person to get the intensity I need, then back up to keep it aligned with the narrative voice of the book. I had loosely plotted my m/m romance as not quite enemies to lovers but distrust and circling, with growing attraction. But my new character has pretty much fallen in love and is thrashing about a bit, and his reactions are a shade off because neither he nor I said, okay, not just fascinated, besotted. And being a bit of a jerk about it.

Looking forward to your next one! And I like your bird friend.

I'm in the middle of my book, writing about 4000 words/week. Not quite writing every day as prescribed, but feeling good momentum.

Going off now to read Simon Rosenberg. I'm sure it will be horrifying.

You're writing at a great pace, especially considering everything else you're doing! Brava. Can't wait to read.
