This is the time of year I would be posting Preptober and Nanowrimo posts. If this were a normal year. If this were a normal time.

This year I just can’t. I know how many of you are close to paralyzed with anxiety over the looming election. The fact that we’re here at all. That a rapist, racist, fascist, dictator-loving, dictator-wannabe, is this close to the presidency after the disaster of his first term.

I’m not using the election as an excuse not to write. I do my pages on the new book in the morning. It’s not just the professional thing to do - it’s as life affirming as daily meditation or yoga.

But I simply cannot cheerlead or coach writing at this critical moment, unless it’s writing specifically directed at defeating the convicted felon, malignant narcissist —and electing the sane, responsible, adult, immensely qualified, passionate supporter of democracy and human rights who is running against him. I have been a huge supporter of Kamala Harris since her tenure as Attorney General of California. I have seen her professional and personal character. I have seen her work to prosecute cartels and traffickers and predators, and I write about the laws she pushed to change to make that prosecution more possible in my Huntress Moon series.

And for the next five days the rest of my time will be for donating, amplifying, emailing, and whatever else the experts are advising to make the most impact.
