Alex, thank you so much for your article on who our readers are. So helpful to determine who I’m writing for. Quick question: which was your favorite Nicci French book? I haven’t read them and would like to get one this weekend.
Claire, it depends on what you're looking for! I love the Frieda Klein detective series about a psychotherapist who starts working as a consultant for the police - Book 1, BLUE MONDAY is a spectacular book even if you don't go on to read the whole series. https://amzn.to/3S8Sljy. I love the detective in the new sort of series, which is the two latest books, but I don't think it's as complex and addictive as the Frieda Klein books.
There are quite a few standalone suspenses, too - I really like CATCH ME WHEN I FALL as one of the best depictions I've ever read of bipolar disorder. https://amzn.to/4j6ik5W
This gives me a completely different perspective on identifying my ideal reader. I’m going to work on this!
Glad it clicked for you, Devin! Actually your one-liner is a great touchstone, too -
"if Hallmark turned 50 shades and developed a serious case of menopausal rage..."

Thank you so much! I'll definitely check out their standalone suspense books first.
