On my list of to do's: Find Alexandra's 10 climaxes. You are SO right. My Act One has three! It's just as important while revising as while plotting. Find those 'biggies', then setting them up. Thank again for weighing in on this!
See, you've been writing long enough that you are doing this automatically, and then consciously amplifying, which is usually what it takes to build an explosive set piece climax. We work them in layers!
Makes me wonder. As a baby writer, I read everything I could get my hands on about the craft. You should see your Screenwriting Tips. I would have done myself a favor if I'd dumped the book into a vat of highlighter. (Just hauled off the shelf this AM.)
This gave raise to a question. After all the years of reading/watching your vidoes, is it just me? Your posts have taken on razor clairity. Could there be another writing book in the works from you?
Ah, thanks - but you also make me feel guilty! I'd be happy to write another writing book - IF I had 48 hours in every day. My real job is novels and the occasional screen work - it's too much to throw that other plate in the air. But that's what this Substack is about - I can add to the workbooks on an ongoing basis, build an archive of new movie breakdowns (that I WILL eventually publish), respond to questions in almost real time, all the good stuff.

Ahh, she says, (rubbing her hands.) Something to look forward to with patient anticipation.
